Sydney SuperNight 300 2018

It’s been a long while since there’s been a night race on the Supercars calendar – I don’t remember one in the 18 years since I’ve been following the sport. I guess it’s a last-ditch effort to appeal to a new audience and increase viewership – and patronage – for Sydney races given the move of the finale up to Newcastle and the waning crowds at Sydney Motorsport Park. It was somewhat nostalgic to see the hype building towards the event and then to see the grandstands and Turn 1 hill full for the race itself, akin to my first live race in 2004. In the same way, it was interesting to shoot motorsports under lights too having done so only once before at this year’s Bathurst 12 Hour. It definitely wasn’t the easiest time I’ve had shooting, but I appreciate the challenge and any chance I can get to further my photography.
